Buy Local Holiday Gift Guide Preview: Record Store Day

On Black Friday, November 23, music lovers around the world will take part in Record Store Day, gathering at their local record shops to get copies of limited releases from some of the biggest names in music. Record Store Day has been an annual tradition since 2007, when musicians celebrate independently owned music stores by releasing exclusive albums and memorabilia that can only be purchased at local brick-and-mortar record shops.  This year’s exclusives include albums by Band of Horses, the Beach Boys, Gaslight Anthem, Merle Haggard, M83, Toro Y Moi, the White Stripes, Link Wray, Lucero, the Rolling Stones, Dr. Dog, Eric Burdon, Bob Dylan and more. For a full list of exclusive releases, visit

A number of Central PA stores were chosen to participate in Record Store Day 2012. Check with the store of your choice to find out how they’ll be celebrating and which exclusive albums they’ll be stocking. Many of the Record Store Day albums will have printings of 2,000 copies or less, making them incredible gifts for the music lovers in your life.
