Strawberry Square, Harrisburg
The State Civil Service Commission will be holding three events this February in observance of Black History Month. These free events are open to the public and will be held in the Atrium of Strawberry Square in downtown Harrisburg at noon on February 7, February 14, and February 28. The first event on February 7 will feature music from W. Braxton Cooley Jr. and a speech by Dr. Jacqueline B. Jackson, a choir member of First Baptist Church. February 14th’s event will focus on children and youth. Important figures in Black history will be portrayed by students from the Sylvan Heights Learning Academy. The final event on February 28 will feature gospel music performed by local singers and musicians.
