The IZOD INDYCAR Series is making an historic return to Pennsylvania at the Pocono Raceway, this Sunday July 7th, 2013, in Long Pond, Pa. The 2013 return of the Triple Crown marks the first time the Pocono INDYCAR 400, open-wheeled race will commence since the summer of 1989.
A special presentation and meet-and-greet was held at the Capitol Rotunda in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania this past June 26th, to celebrate the return of the Triple Crown Trophy to PA, and to drive home the potential $100 million economic boost the region could garner from this event.
In racing history, only one driver has ever accomplished winning racing’s amazing Triple Crown. In 1978, Al Unser won the original open-wheel Triple Crown, after winning the Indianapolis 500, the 500 miler at Pocono Raceway, and the race at Ontario (Calif.).
Present for this Rotunda event were Pennsylvania State Representatives Joe Emrick (137th), Mario Scavello (176th), Sid Kavulich (114th), Stephen Kinsey (201st), Rosemary Brown (189th), and Marcia Holm. Lewis Strategic organized the event.
