Beginning Wednesday, October 30, 2013, Poe Evermore will be coming to the Mount Hope Estate and Winery in Manheim. The Mansion of Mount Hope, which is on the grounds of the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire, will be turned into a mental asylum, where asylum patients tell stories to guests as they make their way through different areas.
In different areas of the mansion, some of Edgar Allan Poe’s classics will be retold through characters, such as The Cask of Amontillado, The Pit and the Pendulum, The Raven, For Annie, and The Tell-Tale Heart. In the ballroom Monsieur Mallard and Dr. Cornelius Tarr will tell the story of The Cask of Amontillado. In the Hallway will be Ms. Eleonora Fether and Ms. Madeline Laplace with The Pit and the Pendulum. In the Chapel will be Mr. Poe reciting The Raven, For Annie, and The Tell-Tale Heart.
Guests can also enjoy a meal with their Poe Evermore experience. Combination meal and show tickets will be available as well. They can enjoy a meal at the Anchor & Mermaid Tavern that is also on the grounds of Mount Hope Estate, then enjoy the show. The Mansion’s Wine Shop will be open for complimentary wine samplings as well.
Poe Evermore is scheduled for Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 7:30 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays at 1 p.m., 4 p.., and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $16.95 midweek and $18.95 on the weekends, and lunch and a show is $31.95 and dinner and a show is $42.95.
