On Sunday, September 1, 2013, from 11 a.m.—5 p.m., the 18th Annual Hanover Chili Cook-off will be held rain or shine at the Good Fields, located at 70 North Forney Avenue in Hanover. Attendees will enjoy the chili tasting as well as see the judges that will be present to reward the best chili with prize money. There will also be musical entertainment, face painting, balloon twisting, inflatable jousting attraction, and a magician.

Friday, August 30, 2013 – 35th Annual Long’s Park Art and Craft Festival

Over Labor Day Weekend, Long’s Park in Lancaster County will be the site of the 35th Annual Long’s Park Art and Craft Festival. From Friday, August 30 to Sunday, September 1, 2013, 10 a.m.—5 p.m., the fine art festival will be set up on the edge of historic Downtown Lancaster with 200 top artists and craftspeople from across the country putting their work on display. From Wednesday, August 23 to Sunday, September 1, 2013, the Blue Mountain Gospel Festival will take place at the Lebanon Valley Expo Center. Susquehanna River School Educational Park Ground-Breaking on City Island

On Wednesday, August 28, 2013, the Susquehanna River School held a ground-breaking ceremony near the John Harris Trading Post on City Island to welcome its new Educational Park being constructed. The River School, which is an affiliate of the Pride of the Susquehanna, will teach visitors to City Island about the history and natural wonders associated with the Susquehanna River.

Tuesday, August 27, 2013 – Troegs Brewery Tours

Troegs Brewing Company offers self-guided brewery tours that provide a full facility tour at the visitors’ pace. Visitors can get a behind-the-scenes look at how the production brewery works and taste and smell all that goes into brewing Troegs favorite beers. The tour offers an up-close look at the ‘Scratch Beer’ brew house, the fermentation/filtration hall, the quality lab, the kegging and bottling lines and the brewery’s barrel aging room. There is also a Tasting Room and General Store, where staff members will be able to answer any questions guests may have.

Habitat for Humanity Opens ReStore in Harrisburg

On Friday, August 23, 2013, Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Harrisburg Area held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the opening for ReStore, a new store that will sell donated household items to help benefit Habitat for Humanity in the Capitol Region. ReStore is located at 800 Paxton Street in Harrisburg, the previous location of Troegs Brewery.
