The Mixtape Festival returned to Hershey for its second year, bringing some of music’s top performers to the stage for a two night festival. On Friday, July 26 and Saturday, July 27, 2013, the Mixtape Festival featured live performances by Train, TLC, New Kids On The Block, The Script, Jonas Brothers, OneRepublic, Rev Run & DJ Ruckus, Boyz II Men, Hanson and more.

The festival was presented by Live Nation and VH1, and on Friday, July 26, featured performances by Train, The Script, OneRepublic, Hanson, Gavin DeGraw, and Serena Ryder.

Monday, August 5, 2013 – The Falconry Experience

The Falconry Experience, by the Hotel Hershey, is an adventure program for all ages. This unique experience, hosted by master falconer, Jack Hubley, is the only one of its kind in the state of Pennsylvania. The program features Harris hawks, a peregrine falcon, and a golden eagle. Guests may interact with the hawks during the program by donning a falconer’s glove and calling a hawk to their arm. A stimulated hunt demonstrates hunting techniques and allows guests to watch the bird chase down prey with amazing speed.

Shank’s Mare is an outfitter store for everyone with an active lifestyle, and on Saturday, August 3, 2013, from 10 a.m.—5 p.m., the store will be celebrating its 35th Anniversary at the 4th Annual Art and Outdoors Fest on the riverfront grounds of the store. The festival highlights the cultural, environmental, and outdoor recreation opportunities in the area. There will be local artists displaying their works, and local outdoor, historic, and cultural organizations with information booths on site. The Whitaker Foundation Makes Final Gifts to Whitaker Center, TFEC

Harrisburg, PA, July 31, 2013 – Today marks the bittersweet end of an era of giving by The Whitaker Foundation. The Whitaker Foundation’s reserve account, of approximately $3.9 million, will be dispersed to Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts and The Foundation for Enhancing Communities (TFEC). The Whitaker Center will receive approximately $2.6 million and TFEC will receive approximately $1.3 million.

In 1975, The Whitaker Foundation was established from a portion of Uncas A. Whitaker’s estate for philanthropy predominately in the field of biomedical engineering. Additionally, The Whitaker Foundation supported charitable programs over the years in Cumberland, Dauphin and Perry counties as well the Naples, Florida area. The last gift from his foundation will ensure that nonprofits working in the central PA region will continue to work towards his original intention to improve people’s lives.
