On Thursday May 8, 2014, a huge crowd formed outside of Hershey’s Giant Center all waiting for one beloved band, Avenged Sevenfold. The metalcore rock band is best known for their elaborate stages, dramatic album imagery and on stage fire theatrics. Avenged Sevenfold, also known as 7AX, is currently on tour for their latest album Hail to the King.
Adrenaline Mob was the first act to grace the stage and it was a huge crowd pleaser with their modest yet powerful stage presence. The metal super-group consists of members from Symphony X and Dream Theatre.
The second super-group was one of the bands to get the biggest rise out of the already rowdy crowd, HELLYEAH. Chad Gray who is the former singer of Mudvayne was in his element with his charismatic performance and you could clearly see this is his calling. HELLYEAH also consists of two other well-known metal bands, Pantera and Nothingface.
Before Avenged Sevenfold took the stage, a huge curtain with their logo covered their entire setup that fans were patiently waiting to see. Once the music began, the curtain came down to reveal the two lead guitarists up on a mini stage for the crowd to go wild for. In the sea of the crowd you could see hundreds of posters proclaiming their love for the metal core band. Soon enough the lead singer M. Shadows came onto stage with a smile on his face and the crowd went even crazier, as if that could even be possible.
Just as you’d expect, their stage was a show in itself with a castle theme, screens shaped like windows to show the band up close and at one point zombies clawing to get it. Every once in a while you would see flames burst into the air behind the guitarists, drummer and bassists while M. Shadows paced the stage. It was night to remember for all of the fans and even the band themselves.
