From May 31 to September 14, 2014, Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts in downtown Harrisburg will present the summer exhibit, Ice Age Giants, sponsored by Bayer HealthCare and Bobby Rahal Lexus. Giant creatures that appeared on Earth after the extinction of large reptiles will be on display, with 14 life-sized and near-life-sized animatronic reproductions. Some of the creatures featured in the exhibition will be the Woolly Mammoth, Woolly Rhinoceros, an elephant-sized ground sloth, a saber-toothed cat, a huge flightless bird, an armadillo the size of a small car, dog-sized ancestral horses, and even a family of our own ancestors.
Guests will also have the opportunity to touch fossil teeth from mammoths and saber-toothed cats, discover how mammoths kept warm and how they smelled. The Select Medical IMAX Theater will also feature Titans of the Ice Age 3D, a film transporting viewers to the beautiful frozen landscape of North America, Europe, and Asia ten thousand years before modern civilization.
The Ice Age Giants exhibit will be included with regular admission to the Science Center. For additional information or to purchase advance tickets, visit www.WhitakerCenter.org or call 717-214-ARTS. Tickets may also be purchased at the Whitaker Center box office.
