The Harrisburg Regional Chamber and CREDEC announced a partnership with the Harrisburg Young Professionals to bring New York Times best-selling author David Epstein to the Midtown Scholar Bookstore in June.
Building on the momentum of his New York Times bestseller, The Sports Gene, Epstein comes to Harrisburg to promote his forthcoming book Range: Why Generalists Trumph In A Specialize World.
Range delves into the question, “What’s the most effective path to success in any domain?” And Epstein’s answer isn’t what you think. An excerpt from his website offers:
David Epstein examined the world’s most successful athletes, artists, musicians, inventors, forecasters and scientists. He discovered that in most fields—especially those that are complex and unpredictable—generalists, not specialists, are primed to excel. Generalists often find their path late, and they juggle many interests rather than focusing on one. They’re also more creative, more agile, and able to make connections their more specialized peers can’t see.https://www.davidepstein.com/the-range/
David Epstein, author of The Sports Gene, a NY Times bestseller, holds a master’s degree in environmental science and journalism. Epstein performed investigative reporting for ProPublica, and worked as a senior writer for Sports Illustrated.
