From August 12 – 16, 2014, the 92nd Annual South Mountain Fair will be held at the South Mountain Fairgrounds in Arendtsville. Unlimited carnival rides are included with admission, as well as all of the entertainment. This fair celebrates agriculture with daily activities including animal shows, motocross shows, archery sharp shooter shows, exhibits, chainsaw carving, demonstrations and much more.

Wednesday, August 6, 2014 – Summer Classic Movies at the Majestic Theater

Through the end of August, the Majestic Theater in Gettysburg is featuring Summer Classic Movies every Wednesday night beginning at 7:30 p.m. On Wednesday, August 6, 2014, the film being featured will be Invasion of the Body Snatchers from 1956. There will also be a $100 prize for the best alien costume of the evening.

Every Wednesday throughout the summer, Summer Classic Movies featured more than just movies. Some of the great entertainment scheduled includes 6 comedies, 2 musicals, 2 love stories, 2 thrillers and a John Wayne movie.

Thursday, July 31, 2014 – Gettysburg Wine and Fruit Trail

On Thursday, July 31, 2014, the Gettysburg Wine and Fruit Trail will be held at Reid’s Winery and Cider House in Gettysburg. Nearly all year long, the trail features a variety of events for guests to enjoy the South Mountain and South Central Pennsylvania region. From 6 – 9 pm on this day, it will be Singer/Songwriter Night featuring Todd Walker, an award-winning folk, acoustic rock and soft rock performer.

Saturday, July 5, 2014 – “An Evening with the Painting”

On Saturday, July 5, 2014, the Gettysburg Foundation’s Sue Boardman, a licensed Battlefield Guide and author/historian, will host “An Evening with the Painting” at the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum and Visitor Center. This after hours event will give visitors the chance to explore the Gettysburg Cyclorama painting and the history of the genre, as well as the history of the Battle of Gettysburg Cyclorama. This is our country’s largest painting and will be on display on the platform, where visitors can view it in full light and up close.

Monday, June 23, 2014 – Gettysburg Family Amusement Complex

From Sunday, June 1 through Tuesday, September 9, 2014, the Gettysburg Family Amusement Complex is open from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturdays, and noon to 6 p.m. on Sundays. The family fun center offers laser tag, two go kart racing tracks, two mini golf courses, an arcade, batting cages, paintball and a picnic pavilion. There is also a café and snack shops for refreshments and meals. The Gettysburg Family Amusement Complex also offers quality youth and adult parties and events that can be scheduled by making a reservation.

Sunday, June 22, 2014 – Lincoln’s Treasure in Gettysburg

On Sunday, June 22, 2014, enjoy improv theatre and a scavenger hunt at Lincoln’s Lost Treasure in Gettysburg. A wealthy eccentric entrepreneur hires you for a quest to uncover the secret treasure Lincoln Left Behind. This live, two and a half hour adventure will take participants throughout the streets of historic downtown Gettysburg to solve the mystery. In groups of up to 6 or 8 people, everyone is aided by a few historical artifacts and hidden clues that all come together to solve the mystery of where the treasury gold has been hidden for over a century. Along the way, everyone can interact with engaging cast members and decode cryptic clues all while dodging FBI agents.

Tuesday, June 3, 2014 – American Civil War Tours at the Gettysburg Heritage Center

The Gettysburg Heritage Center is located next to the Gettysburg National Military Park battlefield and offers both educational and entertaining looks into the Civil War. Visitors can learn about the battle of Gettysburg, one of the most defining moments during the war. The museum offers artifacts, historical documents, interactive displays, a 3D movie and more that will bring Gettysburg’s story to life.

The Heritage Center also offers tour groups for youths and adults. The tour groups offer insights into more than 30 of the war’s most significant events, including Pickett’s Charge and Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address.
