Jump Street Presents the 47th Annual Patriot News Artsfest

From Saturday, May 24 to Monday, May 26, 2014, the 47th Annual Patriot News Artsfest was held along the Susquehanna River at Riverfront Park in Harrisburg. This festival stretched from Market to Forster Streets and featured food, music, art, and demonstrations all weekend long.

Some of the categories of exhibiting artists with their works for sale were fine arts, photography, fiber, jewelry, leather, metal, sculpture, glass, mixed media, pottery, wood, knives, musical instruments, brooms, baskets and others. There were food courts located along Front Street at Walnut Street, Pine Street, Kunkle Plaza Park and North Street. Three locations also featured a free Film Festival from May 23 to 26, showing only underground and independent films on 16mm and SUPER8, DVDs and Blu-Rays.

A Celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Wizard of Oz at the Art Association in Harrisburg

The celebration for this year’s 75th anniversary of The Wizard of Oz has already been underway for several months. And to quote the Mayor of Munchkinland, “Let the joyous news be spread!” Many still cherish the memories of settling in with the family to watch the annual TV showing of 1939’s The Wizard of Oz. The thought of it calls to mind Judy Garland singing “Over the Rainbow,” or the blubbering, comical Cowardly Lion. And who can forget those cringe-worthy Winged Monkeys, minions of the green-faced, cackling Wicked Witch of the West?

Art Association of Harrisburg to Host Bal Masque “Literary Allusions”

On Saturday, March 1, 2014, from 7 – 11 p.m., the Art Association of Harrisburg will be hosting its annual masquerade event, the Bal Masque at the Abbey Bar at the Appalachian Brewing Company in Harrisburg. The Bal Masque is the Art Association’s own version of Mardi Gras, and this year’s theme will be Literary Allusions.

This year, the Honorary Chairman of the Bal Masque will be Harrisburg’s new mayor, Eric Papenfuse. Guests that purchase tickets at the Reserved Seating level will be able to attend a special Meet-and-Greet with the mayor before the event begins, at 6:30 p.m.

Friday, August 30, 2013 – 35th Annual Long’s Park Art and Craft Festival

Over Labor Day Weekend, Long’s Park in Lancaster County will be the site of the 35th Annual Long’s Park Art and Craft Festival. From Friday, August 30 to Sunday, September 1, 2013, 10 a.m.—5 p.m., the fine art festival will be set up on the edge of historic Downtown Lancaster with 200 top artists and craftspeople from across the country putting their work on display. There will also be live music, food, wine and craft beers available.
